Café Hafa: Time Stands Still Over Mint Tea

Some places exist outside of time. Café Hafa, clinging to the cliffs since 1921, is one such sanctuary. The Beatles once sat on these very blue-and-white tiled terraces, as did Burroughs and Bowles. Today, the ritual remains unchanged: steaming glasses of mint tea so sweet it makes your teeth ache, served with a view that stretches to Spain. Old men play endless games of backgammon while teenagers sneak glances at each other. The tea master moves between tables with the precision of a conductor, pouring from impossible heights. As seabirds circle below and ships glide toward the horizon, you’ll understand why generations have come here to watch the world go by.
